And Jessie, congratulations. You finished the game. Kudos to you. Kudos. Before we get started, what we're gonna make today, it's Korean spicy tuna. This is definitely my go-to food that I love, love, love from my mom. And I actually made this recipe like seven, six years ago.
So I'm remaking because, you know, that video is so sad. I can't even, I'm gonna delete the video very soon, as soon as I upload this video. So don't even try to look it up, okay? Let's get started. Slice three serranos or four jalapenos. If this is too spicy for you, you can just use green bell pepper as well. Small dice half of onion. Chop one bundle of green onions. And chop six cloves of garlic. I don't have a chopping scene of garlic because I bought this humongous bag of garlic and I grind in my blender and it's all in the refrigerator. So I'm not gonna have a chopping garlic scene for a while.
All right, vegetables are good to go. So let's mix our sauce. So in a mixing bowl, go ahead and add four tablespoons of soy sauce. Again, when you're cooking Korean food, I highly recommend to use Korean soy sauce. The flavor is so much better. Two tablespoons of fish sauce. One tablespoon of sesame oil. Three tablespoons of gochugaru, Korean red pepper flakes. One tablespoon of sugar or honey. Two tablespoons of sesame seeds. And pinch of black pepper. Mix well until sugar has dissolved and set aside. Bring a large ttukbaegi. Ttukbaegi is a Korean clay pot. I'm going to add two large cans of tuna. They are 18 ounce and 500 grams each.
We're not gonna drain or anything. We are just going to dump the whole entire thing. And then add all the vegetables that we chopped. Serrano or jalapeno. Green onions, onions, and garlic. Pour the sauce mixture over the top. And cover. And we are going to bring this to boil medium high heat. And then reduce the heat to medium low and simmer 8 to 10 minutes. The house will smell like this spicy tuna. And you are gonna start to drool. All the people all around the house will come to the kitchen because they are wondering what you are cooking, what you are up to. Because they want to eat. This smells so good.
This is actually the way my mom wakes everybody up in the morning. Because when she cooks this, everybody just comes down like, what's for breakfast mom? What's for breakfast? This is Korean spicy tuna. My mom always makes for breakfast a lot more often. And this is amazing with freshly cooked rice and some fried egg. So don't forget the fried egg. Fried egg is a must with this dish. And also if you want to know how to make this purple rice, go ahead and check out my recipe video right here. How to make purple rice, Korean purple rice. This is Oma's special spicy chicken. It's my mom's creation. So delicious. I love this dish so much. Because it just finished cooking. It's still boiling. So good though. Delicious. So delicious.
